One of the great things about living in a state by water is the access to good quality fish. Colorado is in the middle of the United States with a ocean thousands of miles away. My sister in law, Courtney, told us about this place called The Goat and Clover Tavern who has really good fish and chips. We ended up going there and trying the fish and chips and I can concur that it was really good. When we were out shopping one day, we stopped by this pizza place called Pablo's with all different pizzas, like one with macaroni and cheese or potatoes on a pizza. The firt time I tried them was back during Winter Break and I really liked them, that when I when I had a chance to go back during Spring Break, I did.
I had a goal when going to Grand Junction, I did a lot of research on places and things in Colorado and the general area we would be staying before I went for the first time back in December. One of my top things was to try all the local coffee shops around town and the surronding area. I tried a place called Kiln located on the Main Street there, I tried another place called Octopus Coffee, weird name, weird coffee. I went to this amazing chocolate store called Enstrom Candies and they had really great coffee. I think my top spot so far, out of all the places I have tried which may be all the local coffee shops for all I known since I've lost track of all the places, is The Coffee Trader.
One of the places that we drove through that I feel like is a very underrated little area was Palisade, Colorado. Known for peaches and more peaches it's a very small time with a rustic vibe and many and I mean many fields for peaches. That place was pure peach country, we stopped by this little black called the Palisade Peach Shack and it looked exactly like it's name. A little wood shack out away from the main road, but once your inside it is a completely different atmosphere. When you first walked in all I could smell was homemade apple pie, which they were offering samples to people, it was really good, and they had a whole little market set up inside, with seating, a ice cream and coffee bar, local wine, jams, cheese, and meats on sale, with of course multiple different pie flavors to choose from. Some honorable mentions of food places, Graff Dairy which is a local ice cream shop and Sweet Coloradough which sells giant donuts and cronuts.
